Ok, I don't think im the only one who gets this error. I'v got Retropie installed on a Raspberry Pi 3B+. Everything works fine for a bit. I set up the gamepad with no problems but then suddenly out of the blue, during boot up, I get the error 'NO GAMEPADS DETECTED'. No matter how many times I reboot, it won't work. So far the only fix i have found is to do a complete reformat and reinstall of the micro SD card. the gamepad is just a cheap standard USB plug and play. I know it works fine as my PC recognises it immediately when I plug it in. Im not an expert in Linux or Raspberry PI so please any help must be in layman's terms.

@nterry65 when it boots up and you get the screen that says no gamepad detected what happens if you hold down a button on your controller?

@quicksilver Sorry for the late reply. i solved the issue by simply unplugging the Pie from the mains for a few minutes then reconnecting and booting up. i think its a simple power issue.
