Help: My kids will always press something and restart the whole thing

I downloaded the image, flashed it, dropped some C64 games. I plug it it, configure 2 pads, installed vice. Load game ...
... and my son pushes some pad buttons constantly that go to the Vice menu and sometimes just restart the whole thing.
It's impossible to play anything because it's just waaay too easy to interrupt everything or just reset the whole system, and have to wait 2 minutes again just to start from scratch.

Your best bet is to not give your kid the controller. Or reconfigure the controller to not have a hotkey.

Use lr-vice it's easier to disable certain buttons so this doesn't happen
