How do I get the lr-vice menu up?
-
Hi
I have a pi 3B+ running Linux retropie 4.14.98-v7+ #1200 SMP
I've installed lr-vice on my retropie setup (binary through experimental packages). It launches fine but I am trying to get the menu up so I can configure it but nothing is working. Apparently you press F12, but NO keys on my usb attached keyboard do anything. I need to configure it to remap keyboard keys, set joystick controls, and get some sound (currently none).
Can anyone help please?
Thanks

lr-vice
doesn't have the Vice menu included, you're supposed to use theOptions
menu for the core to set the emulator configuration. F12 is the settings menu when you're using the standalone emulator (vice
).Controls are set through the RetroArch's configuration - in the
Controls
menu. -
Hi
Thanks. I was expecting a menu similar to the libretro mame one when you press TAB. I'm trying to figure out how to get to the retroarch config for lr-vice but having little luck. Is it possible to enable the sound for this emulator, map c64 keyboard keys to other keys (ipac) and configure the controls like you can (almost) do with the standalone vice? I can't see where to do it... thanks again for your help.

As I said - try the
Options
and theControls
menus from the RGUI, the RetroArch's menu that pops up when you pressF1
orHotkey + X
(gamepad).Sound should work without issues in RetroArch, if you open the
Options
menu you'll have more options w.r.t. sound emulation. -
@agent4125 I had the same problem. Turned out updating retroarch to the latest version solved the issue and all the options in Retroarch for lr-vice appeared. See the link below.

@mitu thanks - Do you mean the RGUI that should pop up in-game? If so that's my problem, nothing works to popup any ingame menu. I've tried looking at the hotkeys in retroarch config (settings->input) and set it specifically, but nothing is happening when I press the hotkey to open it in-game (I checked it saved on exit).
@RumblinBuffalo Thanks- I'll check out that thread.

@agent4125 said in How do I get the lr-vice menu up?:
I checked it saved on exit
You shouldn't use the 'Save on Exit' setting, it's causing more trouble than it's worth. Did you also use 'Reset Settings' ?
F1
should bring up the RGUI - doesn't it work for you ? TheHotkey+X
works for gamepads - but you didn't say what gamepads/joypads you're using and if they're detected as a keyboard or a gamepad. -
To clarify, I was able to get into the retroarch GUI (by pressing select-X). However, when I went to "options" there were no core options available to edit. I also had no sound in games.
Once I updated retroarch etc, I was able to see all the "core options" for lr-vice. These include button mapping and the various machine options. Sound also works. And by default, "select" on my gamepad brought up the on-screen keyboard.

@mitu Thanks - I didn't use Reset Settings. As I wasn't getting any key on my attached USB keyboard to open up the in-game RGUI, I tried the retroarch configuration to check if a hotkey was set to open it. If I read it correctly it was set to "SPACE", but so was the warp/speedup hotkey. I changed it to F10 (something that wasn't listed elsewhere in the list of hotkeys) and saved it. It didn't work though, still no key on the keyboard opens the RGUI in-game.
I don't have a gamepad, I just have 2 arcade joysticks and buttons connected to an IPAC (keyboard controller).

@RumblinBuffalo Thanks again - I'll look at updating retroarch shortly. Although I'm concerned after reading that thread that it will remove/reset all my IPAC keyboard controller mappings, which took me a long time to get right initially.
