Help: PrBOOM pWAD Tutorial Isn't Working for Me.
-
So I have read in the RetroPie Wiki that in order to use pWADs with DOOM, I simply need to create a new folder inside of the /roms/ports/doom/ folder with the name of the pWAD I want to use, along with prboom.wad and doom or doom2.wad, as well as the pWAD I want to use. Then I create a doom folder inside of that folder, place my prboom.cfg file inside of there, edit the line where it looks for the names of pwads to load up, save, write my launcher script accordingly, give the script permissions, reboot emulation station and go.
Well all of this works except it fails to see the pWAD and just loads DOOM as per usual.
This is EXACTLY what my folder structure looks like:
Folder Structure Example
/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/ports/doom/sigil
doom.wad
prboom.wad
SIGIL.wad/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/ports/doom/sigil/doom/
prboom.cfgprboom.cfg Example
Files
wadfile_1 "SIGIL.wad"
#wadfile_2 ""
#wadfile_3 ""
#wadfile_4 ""
#wadfile_5 ""
#wadfile_6 ""
#wadfile_7 ""
#wadfile_8 ""
#dehfile_1 ""
#dehfile_2 "" -
Fixed it, though I'm not sure what is going on... let me explain.
If you look at my prboom.cfg file you will see this line for my pWAD file.
wadfile_1 "SIGIL.wad"
Now inside of PrBOOM it show the wad file as SIGIL.WAD"
I used my controller and was able to delete the quote symbol off the end and now it works like it was supposed to. The odd thing though is that my prboom.cfg file looks exactly as it did before.
What's that all about?
