I picked up a hyperkin ProCube controller, and I'm having trouble syncing it. I've tried both the RetroPie bluetooth configuration screen, as well as manual pairing with Bluetoothctl - and neither one seems to be able to get the controller fully synced (Bluetoothctl is problematic as I can't seem to get the commands put in fast enough over SSH).

I'm using Retropie 3.8 from a fresh install, and I'm able to sync controllers like my NES30 controllers just fine, so I'm kind of at a loss. Is there some other documentation or tips on syncing wii based controllers that I'm unaware of?

That model appears to be a WiiU controller specifically. Have you tried using the information found here?

          Edit:

Bluetoothctl is problematic as I can't seem to get the commands put in fast enough over SSH

Can you elaborate on this problem? Is working directly with the Pi not an option?

I don't have a usb keyboard - just my laptop - so I generally do everything over SSH from my laptop, or with a controller.

I can probably get a hold of one though and try again? I'll give that a try and report back...

I've seen that other people have had success with the retropie bluetooth config screen - any reason that wouldnt work for this? I've tried all the security modes, but the controller lights always shut off before sync is complete, and then the screen freezes up.

That's a tricky question, as there are many possible variables at play with 3rd party controllers that can affect compatibility in a number of ways.
