Using Windows build to access ROMs over network
-
Hi there! I hope this is the right place to report this.
I am using a windows build of emulationstation (the one here https://github.com/jrassa/EmulationStation). I'm trying to set up my es_systems to access my NAS for the roms, like so:
\\diskstation\roms\nes\
All that I get is this log message:
Apr 17 10:02:01 lvl1: Error - folder with path "/diskstation/roms/nes/" is not a directory!
Am I doing something wrong? I'm trying to trace the problem into the code, and I found it should be somewhere on utils\FileSystemUtil.cpp in how this kind on URL is handled.
I would like to submit a fix myself, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to build it.
Thanks a lot.

UNC paths are not supported anymore (for 2 years ?), but you can map your drive manually and reference the ROM folders using the mapped drive letter.

Oh, I see. I though about mounting the unit, but I was trying to avoid it if possible. I think my NAS doesn't hibernate if I do it that way. Thanks @mitu, and sorry for the trouble. May I ask why are UNC paths not supported anymore? Some type of compatibility issues?

It was not an explicit feature, just a side effect of using the Boost filesystem libraries. When Boost was removed, that part also got cut.
