      Hi there, I built an arcade cabinet about 5 yrs ago using 'adafruits' excellent guide. My original setup had and arcade joystick, 2 control buttons (insert coin and play) and 2 play buttons (A and B).
      Ive now added an extra 2 buttons (X and Y) connected directly to GPIO pins but they don't work. I remember years ago that I had to edit the 'retrogame.cfg' to get the original buttons to work.
      but now ive forgotten how to do it.
      Currently I have a keyboard connected to my pie and hit 'F4' to bring me up to the console command prompt which reads …..

      'pi@retropie:~$'

      How do I get to 'retrogame.cfg' to edit it from here...

      Pls note, I built this cabinet about 5 years ago and downloaded software from here and has not been updated since then.

      I know a few commands in Linux such as 'sudo, nano, cd' etc etc but I cant find 'retrogame.cfg' so I can edit it to set up my extra buttons.

      On another point, ive just noticed that the top lines on command prompt screen reads....

      'Tuesday, 12 December 2017, 7:29:00 am UTC
      Linux 4.4.50+ armv61 GNU/Linux'

      so maybe that was the last time I updated my system.

      Any help would be very much appreciated.

      Many thanks from Me.

        Try looking in /etc/retrogame.cfg or /boo/retrogame.cfg - edit it via sudo nano <filename>. If your installation is very old, this guide might apply.

          @mitu hi there. I've finally sorted it. I didn't put a space between 'sudo nano /boot' .
          All works brill now. Ta. :-)
