Sound - HDMI sound works on Sony tv not on Samsung

Long time retropie fan / junkie. I just got a new rpi3 for my birthday. Loaded retropie v3 and copied my roms. I've got a sony tv in my office ... sound works fine. A samsung tv in my man cave ... no sound. I tried setting it to HDMI sound only ... played with the tv sound options ... no joy. Any advice ?

There are a couple things in the /boot/config.txt to try to fix audio but the only thing that i could fix my audio problem on my retro tv wasnt even in there and took me hours to find. Try adding this:
hdmi_force_edid_audio=1 -
This is an issue that has plagued retropie since release and seems to be the elephant in the room no-one wants to talk about or address
I have a Samsung Smart TV and have no problem with sound, I also know people with Sony Brands that can't get sound...
