I have the exact same issue! It's driving me crazy.
Pi Model or other hardware: Pi4b (4gb)
Power Supply used: 5.1V 3A (official)
RetroPie Version Used : 4.6
Built From: installed by hand over raspbian
Controller used: 8bitdo controller
Emulator: mupen64plus -
@spreety8 check your mupen64plus.sh file. On a pi it's located at /opt/retropie/emulators/mupen64plus/bin/
That script controls/overrides some of the settings in the mupen64plus.cfg. The window/fullscreen option is near the bottom I believe. However this shouldn't be needed. Which video plugin are you using with mupen64plus? Gliden64, gles2rice, or gles2n64? Are you running RetroPie from a desktop environment?

Re: mupen64plus.cfg fullscreen mode overridden.
Same here. I am unable to find a workaround. I think that I've tried every possible screen resolutions provided in the options (just before the emulator starts). When I setFullscreen = True
it seems like it is reset as soon as I start the game from Retropie. I did try from the retropie parameters menu, and also in editing directly/opt/retropie/configs/n64/mupen64plus.cfg
, nothing changes.I ended up in changing the following:
# SDL keysym for switching between fullscreen/windowed modes Kbd Mapping Fullscreen = 1
Then once the game starts, I press
Alt. + Enter
keys to go fullscreen. -
I just fixed this using the suggestion from @quicksilver and if anyone else finds this:
sudo nano /opt/retropie/emulators/mupen64plus/bin/mupen64plus.sh
Then scroll all the way down to the bottom of the file:
WINDOW_MODE="--windowed $RES" put a # in front of it to comment it out and if you set Fullscreen = true in mupen64plus.cfg then wave bye bye to permanent windowed mode
