      Hi!

I'm trying to update my Pi4 mini arcade setup from RetroPie 4.5.17 to the new 4.6!
This is on a RPi 4 Buster.
When trying the 'Update' menu item in the retropie gui it errors out and says that a 'retropie-packages.sh' file has local changes and I have to commit it.

Is this supposed to work or am I meant to update some other way?

      Cheers

This means exactly what it means - did you modify the file yourself ? How did you install RetroPie in the first place ?

I'm sorry but I can't recall what steps I took to install RetroPie.
But I do know that I haven't edited that file myself.
And why is it using the term 'commit' like I was using Git or something?

Then I advise you start with the 4.6 image that was released last month.

That's because the RetroPie-Setup script is using Git to update itself from the Github repository.

Actually, now that I think about it, you may be stumbling upon this issue - https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/25304/update-retropie-script-failed-need-credentials/14. See if the commands posted by @BuZz help.

@mitu Thanks! I'll try some things suggested there!
