      Hi Everyone,

I have been working on a variety of themes. When I load emulationstation and take a printscreen, it does not work. What I would like to do is take screenshots of my themes in progress and then post them on the forum.

      Any guidance would be appreciated.

      Thank you!

How are you developing the themes - on the Pi or on your PC ?
For the Pi, printscreen will do nothing from the terminal, you should install raspi2png - install it from here and run it from the command line to take screenshot. You can automate the screenshots with a setup similar to this topic post.

If you have a Windows PC, it's easier to just get a Windows portable setup of EmulationStation as detailedhere and then just add the latest version of EmulationStation from here. You can then develop on Windows and use the screenshot utilities there, including the usage of Printscreen.

@mitu thanks very much for your response.

I am creating it on PC and then transferring it over to the Pi.

The funny thing is that when I run emulation station on PC and take a screen shot, I am left with a screenshot of my desktop screen (what is happening behind the emulation station application). This does not happen with any other application that I use. Is there something I have to change? Enable?

I think it's because ES is fullscreen and has a separate GL screen/context. Run EmulationStation with the --windowed parameter to start in a window. You can also add --resolution 1280 720 (or your preferred resolution) to start with a specific resolution.

If you want to take a screenshot of just your current active window, type Alt-PrtSc instead of just the PrtSc key.
