I am running Retropie 4.6 on a Raspberry Pi 4G with SanDisk 128 GB Micro SD card, Xbox One wired controller, and connecting to a Netgear AX12 router. I can connect to my network but the Pi will not let me update or download any packages. When I go into configurations and make a selection to download a package the Pi freezes up. However, I can ssh into the PI but still not download or update packages. I can also transfer roms back and forth through Windows explorer. I have a Raspberry Pi 3B that had the same problem and I thought the WiFi was going out on it but now I know it did not. Are there any special settings in my router that would cause this strange behavior. I can make a wired connection without any trouble what so ever and I am connecting directly with the router. This makes absolutely no sense so if anyone can please shed some light on my problem that would be appreciated greatly.

Check out the router manual, specifically the section 4 (Enable access control to allow or block access to the Internet), and make sure you allow your PI to access the internet.

All settings are okay for free access. I tried installing the desktop Raspian but it does not allow for hidden networks so I have no way to check if it is just Retropie.
