lr-mame2003-plus in-game menu popping up
-
I'm trying to switch to using lr-mame2003-plus so that I can set up my Logitech F710 to use the two sticks to properly play Crazy Climber. However, when I start playing with the sticks, the in-game menu pops up for no apparent reason. I had a similar problem trying to use lr-mame2003-plus for Joust where the in-game menu would pop up out of the blue. Can anyone tell me why that might happen and how I might be able to stop it?
Thanks!

its set to tab and l3 by default change the defaults in input -> general

@grant2258 Do standard retroarch joystick mappings overlap those? It seems strange to me that there would be a conflict.

there is no conflict its what its mapped too

Crazy climber happens to be the cabinet I use converted to retropie, when I mapped the controls in emulation station I set the left stick to up, down, left, right. Then the right stick is set to a, b, x, y. Kind of like a PlayStation controller. This made it easy for me. Then like grant said, map the mame menu the way you need. I set my mame menu to p1 start, p2 start, and right stick up. Seems to be a combo I never accidently hit

I must be doing something wrong as I try to set this up. I have an external Bluetooth Keyboard connected, but I can't get the MAME menu to pop up using TAB from that. If I wiggle the dual joysticks around long enough, I will get the menu to pop up, but then I can't seem to interact with it. I'm clearly doing something stupid here. Is there a way to edit the configuration from outside the game on the file system or are these binary files?
Thanks for any pointers.

@csetera another option is to go into your retroarch menu and select the core option to enable the mame menu so you can remap it.

I was able to disable the MAME menu by coming in through the Retroarch menu. However, it didn't seem to "stick". Is there something that needs to be done to save the changes once they are made?
