PS3 Joystick Issues

RetroPie Version Used: 3.8.1 Latest Setup Script
Built From: SD Image
USB Devices connected: USB Keyboard
Controller used: iBuffalo SNES Controller, Quanba Q1 Joystick
Error messages received: None
Emulator: Mame4All
How to replicate the problem:
So the issue I am having is that Mame will not recognize the PS3 Arcade stick I am using, Emulation station picks it up in all systems, FBA uses it just fine. I have tried to use the Joystick when assigning the key mapping in Mame, but it will not recognize the movement of the stick at all. Any suggestions? -
Which of the 5 mames are you trying it on?

Is there a switch on the joystick to switch between d-pad, joystick 1 and joystick 2? It shouldnt matter which one you use the joystick on but maybe??

@edmaul69 No unfortunately the only other buttons are for assigning and clearing turbo. It is so strange that it wont work, as the joystick is picked up in the device test in console, and every other emulator is OK with it (or is should say emulation station.) Thank you for the help by the way.
