      Hi!

I'm using Retropie 4.6 on my Raspberry Pi 3B and got an error trying to update the system using apt upgrade, one of the updates (kernel) couldn't be applied. After that I started getting some error messages of the console.

I reflashed the system and ran apt update again to see the packages that where update, and the command apt list --upgradable gave me this output:

      pi@retropie:~ $ sudo apt update
      Hit:1 http://archive.raspberrypi.org/debian buster InRelease

There are lots of "testing" packages, the kernel update that didn't install is one of then. Is there a whay to only update the "stable" ones? I looked at the sources.list, but there's nothing there that explains the testing packages.

      Thanks!

Event though it says testing, the packages are ok - they're not beta or from the 'testing' repository.

The question is, what error do you get when updating ? Do you have the exact error ?

@mitu I updated again to see the error, and it's the following:

VolumeControl::init() - Failed to find mixer elements!

It appears when turning off the console.

@h1pn0z That's not an error from apt, it's because of the recent changes in the sound system from the new firmware/kernel - see this recent topic for a workaround.
