Questions about Kiosk/Kid Mode
-
I need help.
The way I have things set up at the moment is that I have created a couple collections (ie. Single Player games, and Multiplayer Games). When I boot into Kiosk/Kid mode I would like ONLY these collections to appear. I do NOT want any names of consoles to appear and such just to avoid confusion. So many people that have used my arcade have been overwhelmed by the ammount of consoles on the home page that they never actually find a game. Also some people don't know what system the game they want to play is on. So I created a list of popular games that most people want to play and added them to the above collections.
TL;DR: Is there any way to hide the full systems from Kiosk/Kid view without hiding the games that are in my collections?

UI stands for User Interface and you can change it in an ES menu.By default...
- Mark the rom as "hidden" and that rom won't show up in Kiosk UI or Kid UI (only Full UI).
- Mark roms as "kid" and only those marked as "Kid" will show up when in Kid UI. (They'll still show up in Kiosk UI and Full UI.)
- Mark every rom in a console as hidden and that console selection will disappear in Kiosk UI & Kid UI. (They'll still show up in Full UI.)
After that just use the ES menu to disable quick system select and start on a specific console/collection. You can mark every rom in a system/collection to hide them from a UI. For instance you can have your gambling games playable in Full UI, but hidden from Kiosk and Kid. You can have your beat' em ups visible in Kiosk and Full, but not Kid. You can have your shmups only visible in Full.

No, the collections are filtered based on the UI mode, just like the regular systems. If the game doesn't appear in the original location (system) in that UI mode (it's hidden or it's not marked as Kid game), then it won't appear in the collection.

You want TWO collections, that's the hurdle.
If you wanted ONE... You could switch off "quick system select" in the ES menu and start ES on the collection. The person wouldn't necessarily see the systems unless they "backed out" of the collection. The system/collection wouldn't change with Left/Right. The person would be able to "back out" with a button though.
I wonder if there was some CFG hack that could make the wording of the systems "blank" and they'd be there, but the people wouldn't know that they could select them. To them it may look like ES is stopping in dead space. (In which case they'd most likely just keep moving left or right.) This is just me thinking out loud. Is this plausible Mitu?
