Hi folks, I have a Pi 3 Model B running Retropie. I hadn't used it in some time and fired it up today. First thing I wanted to check was updated the software however I got this message:

"Raspbian/Debian Jessie and versions of Ubuntu below 16.04 are no longer supported

Please install RetroPie 4.4 or newer from a fresh image which is based on Raspbian Stretch (or if running Ubuntu, upgrade your OS)"

Im not running Ubuntu. Is there are how-to guide on how I can do this? I have lots of roms etc already and dont want to lose my data. When I open the Pi folder on my computer I cant see a folder for Roms.

Very noob of me I know, sorry. Im not great at working this stuff out and always need to follow a guide.

Btw, my computer is a Mac but I can get my hands on a Windows machine if I really need to.

      Any help greatly appreciated!

You're probably running an older release based on Rasbian Jessie. The installer tells you what options you have:

Please install RetroPie 4.4 or newer from a fresh image which is based on Raspbian Stretch (or if running Ubuntu, upgrade your OS)"

You'll need to install from a recent image - how did you first installed RetroPie ?

@mitu thanks for reply. The original fresh install was years ago. From memory I followed the instructions from an ETAPRIME YouTube video
