Hi, i am new to retro-pie.
I got a raspi3B with latest retropie, i have tried the kiosk mode.
Now i see you can not use the option : reset emulationstation, for swapping USB stick.
So i want normal mode back.

When i try the konami-code as soon i press 'A' some game will start.
I dont see any movies on youtube where they use the code.
They say to change some file somewhere ( how do you change a file in kiosk/kids mode, it is not possible right ? )
Not having any wifi or things, and i dont know anything about linux.

I just have a USB stick and controller.
How do i get normal mode back ?

      thanks in advance

This happened to me at first as well.
Two things you may want to try:

        1. If you are using the D-Pad for the UDLR functions, try the analog stick instead. Or vice-versa if you are already using the analong stick.
        2. If #1 doesn't work, try swapping B and A. Depending on how your controller is setup, this may work.

Ok thanks, now i still have a question :
where at what screen do i enter the code ?, where you select a game ?

I can do it from either the console selection screen or from the game selection screen. I did not see it work when the START menu is open.
If it works you will know it because the screen flashes and it looks like emulation station restarts.

I am using a Logitech F710 controller and I have to use the analog stick to enter the code. For 'B' I use the button I assigned as B (which cancels menu choices) and for the 'A' I use the button I assigned to A (which makes menu choices).

One thing I've always done is (with a keyboard) in ES, go to Retropie > Configuration Editor > Advanced Configuration > Manually edit global configurations > Option 10 "all/emulationstation/es_settings.cfg". Scroll all the way down to the bottom of this settings and you should see an option to change the kiosk code as well as the kiosk mode. I changed the code to omit the button presses and it's just the d-pad (or analog) directions. You can do the directional combo on any ES screen. You'll know it worked because ES will instantly reload in full mode. Exit with Control and the highlighted letter (so Control+C) when you're done, then just back out to the main menu.

                Change Kiosk mode:
                "<string name="UIMode" value="kiosk" />
                Change Kiosk code:
                "<string name="UIMode_passkey" value="uuddlrlr" />

Obviously the available values for mode are kiosk, full and kid.
Passkey can be as long or short as you want but don't make it something you'd commonly press like dddd as it would reload as you're scrolling through your list, and we'll silently laugh at you from afar lol. /jk

                  With analog controller it works.
It is weird if i have a RETRO pie that i have to connect a PS4 controller...
There is more weird things, i have lots of advice for the programmers to make it more user friendly.

@ Daistaar : thanks, only way to complicated.
@ YFZdude thank you very much.
