Yeah that's all correct. If you set up the symbolic links those are the only files you need. I think you need this one too:
sudo apt-get install libsdl2-net-dev
Also the emulator is setup with mappable save states/quit/screenshot controls so make sure they're mapped how you want them!
that update did the trick, now I can play in full screen
thanks for all your help :)

@dteam no - init save state loads a save state on load.
Turns out i'd mucked up when i was setting the load state to be remappable. It works now.
I haven't updated the zips yet, but i'vejust pushed out the small source code change. I also made the cross hair toggle remappable to so you can see what you're shooting in The Lost World.

The next step for you, is it a conversion to libretro cores: lr-supermodel 😉When you make any updates or if you update your zip, could you let us know in this thread. I want to be aware of your changes and I can test it for you if you want. Thanks again.

Does it now mean that save-states and load-states is now possible/working ?
-
@folly yep! Save and load work. As does the shortcut for showing lightgun cross hairs on screen.

Yesterday I made a module-script for the supermodel :
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/FollyMaddy/RetroPie-Share/main/00-scriptmodules-00/emulators/supermodel-mechafatnick.sh
Not yet perfect, but I think it's a nice base.
Perhaps it's something you could improve with your knowledge. -
@folly
It's nice, because we don't need the zipped file anymore. Your script make the file with MakeFile !! -
Indeed it does.
I structured it a bit differently.
So the emulator binary, configs, Saves map and NVRAM map don't mix up with other installs (if not using the same names btw.)I did not add extra settings Supermodel.ini in the script and I only implemented one emulators.cfg line.
-
@folly
Is It better to uninstall my old files before using your script or that's okay. -

@folly
Is It better to uninstall my old files before using your script or that's okay.This is the reason I created it in such a way that it should be a complete install on it's own and you should be able to keep using your old install for comparison.
This will make it easier to compare and improve or copy and paste configs or files.So only for this module-script the emulator files come in :
/opt/retropie/emulators/supermodel-mechafatnickIt will create symlinks in above directory of NVRAM, Saves, Supermodel.ini and Supermodel.log.
These real directories and files, with normal user permissions, come in :
/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/supermodel/model3emu/mechafatnickThese directories are shared with other installs :
/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/supermodel
/opt/retropie/configs/supermodelSo it uses the same emulators.cfg file for adding the lines.
(but I gave the lines a specific name btw.) -
@dteam is there for global input to toggle Crosshairs (for light gun games) that i can put in supermodel.ini ? the keyboard command for it is Alt-I
-
@folly oh wow good job! I've never actually messed around with Retropue modules so thanks for creating that. We have the make files for Windows and Mac in there too. Would it be difficult to make them compatible with those platforms? I've never seen Retropie installed in Windows.
I would say it's worth including the variants with under locked PPC settings. So far 40hz, 48hz and 45hz seem to get the best results in certain games.
-
@red_trev yep - latest build gas the option in. Folly's script should capture it

I had to learn too, but once you know it, it can be quite simple.

Not sure what you ask here.
Btw. I never compiled stuff on mac and windows.
So I can't help with this one, I think.I would say it's worth including the variants with under locked PPC settings. So far 40hz, 48hz and 45hz seem to get the best results in certain games.
Underclock lines are added in the module-script !

@folly @mechafatnick
I confirm, load state works!!! Thanks @mechafatnick . Folly, with your script, I had to change my rom folder and config folder and my es_systems.cfg by replacing model3 by supermodel. It's not a problem for me, but people must know.General information, if you go to the Test menu (InputTestA) and then to Game Assignments, you can select your country and more. With the country option you can change the language.
Other suggestion, this
Supermodel-mechafatnick-normal = "XINIT:pushd /opt/retropie/emulators/supermodel-mechafatnick;/opt/retropie/emulators/supermodel-mechafatnick/bin/supermodel -wide-screen -stretch -legacy3d -sound-volume=50 -music-volume=60 -no-vsync -no-throttle -no-dsb -res=800,600 %ROM%"
Should be replace by
Supermodel-mechafatnick-normal = "XINIT:pushd /opt/retropie/emulators/supermodel-mechafatnick;/opt/retropie/emulators/supermodel-mechafatnick/bin/supermodel -legacy3d -sound-volume=50 -music-volume=60 -no-vsync -no-throttle -no-dsb %ROM%"
In my opinion, all videos settings should be in Supermodel.ini and not in the command line. It will be more universal. It should be like below.
XResolution=800 ; <------------the user must define according to the size of his screen. Default value 496 YResolution=480 ; <------------the user must define according to the size of his screen. Default value 384 FullScreen=0 WideScreen=1 Stretch=0 WideBackground=0
-
Good idea.
I will edit that asap.
Btw.
I have the saving also working, just looking at the joy_buttons in the Supermodel.ini.
Perfect.I also found a neath way of booting roms faster.
Lemans24 has a real slow start up.
We can add-loadstate=%ROM%.st0
to the startline.If you copy an initial save-state to the same directory as where the rom is, and call it
lemans24.zip.st0
, it will be directly loaded on boot skipping the "init boot".
If there is nothing, no problem it just boots regulary.Shall I add that too ?

@folly
Other question. WithSupermodel-mechafatnick-normal = "XINIT:pushd /opt/retropie/emulators/supermodel-mechafatnick;/opt/retropie/emulators/supermodel-mechafatnick/bin/supermodel -legacy3d -sound-volume=50 -music-volume=60 -no-vsync -no-throttle -no-dsb %ROM%"
Do we lose @mechafatnick game settings in /bin/Config/Games.xml
One of his command lines was
Supermodel-45-hz-PPC-Underclock = "XINIT:/opt/retropie/emulators/supermodel/bin/supermodel -game-xml-file=/opt/retropie/emulators/supermodel/bin/Config/Games.xml -ppc-frequency=45 -legacy3d -sound-volume=50 -music-volume=60 -no-vsync -no-throttle -no-dsb -res=496,384 %ROM%"
-
-
I use
pushd
in the line.
It's something likecd
.
So the emulator starts from that directory and therefor should find the game-xml also without the need of adding it to the line. -
@folly
good to know . Thanks
