Can't run certain games
-
Hello,
I recently installed Retropie on my Raspberry 3 Model B and installed multiple images on different emulators on it. The problem I now encountered is that I can't start multiple games, that are all tagged with (USA) games that are tagged with (Europe) can all be started and played without problem. My question now is, what can I do in order to play said games tagged with (USA)?
Thanks for all help and advice.

@Muteki Please do not post a support request without first reading and following the advice in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first
Please provide more specific information.

Alright, here is all the information I can give you:
-Raspberry Pi 3B
-Using a 5V smartphone powersupplie (no undervoltages)
-Retropie 4.6
-Built from: retropie-buster-4.6-rpi2_rpi3
-USB Devices currently: Xbox360 Afterglow and Logitech Illuminated Keyboard(don't know the exact name)
-USB Devices when playing: Xbox360 Afterglow or XTrust Gamepad
-Controllers as said: Xbox360 Afterglow and XTrust Gamepad
-Errormessage: none, Simply goes to blackscreen when starting and returns to Game Choose Menu
-Concerning the Verbose log as it is pretty big and I don't know if it is relevant I will post it if you deem it necessary
-I didn't use a specific guide
-File is hard to say as the error occured with al ROMs containing (USA) as a tag, nonetheless here you got a random example:/opt/retropie/emulators/retroarch/bin/retroarch -L /opt/retropie/libr etrocores/lr-atari800/atari800_libretro.so --config /opt/retropie/configs/atari5 200/retroarch.cfg "/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/atari5200/Asteroids (USA) (Proto).a52" --verbose --appendconfig /dev/shm/retroarch.cfg
-Emulator is the "lr-atari800"
-Config is the following: http://paste.ubuntu.com/p/f9JJJGz8bz/plain/ -

It's relevant, you should post it on pastebin.com.

Unfortunately, the line(s) you posted are cut and you can't see neither the core name, nor the game/ROM launched.
-Config is the following: http://paste.ubuntu.com/p/f9JJJGz8bz/plain/
Trying to access the link prompts me for a login - http://paste.ubuntu.com/p/f9JJJGz8bz/ works, but I don't think the
config.txt
is at fault here.Since you mention using the
lr-atari800
core, did you copy the necessary BIOS files to the BIOS folder ? -
Here you got the Verbose Log:
the executed ROM:
Executing: /opt/retropie/emulators/retroarch/bin/retroarch -L /opt/retropie/libretrocores/lr-atari800/atari800_libretro.so --config /opt/retropie/configs/atari5200/retroarch.cfg "/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/atari5200/Asteroids (USA) (Proto).a52" --appendconfig /dev/shm/retroarch.cfg
Well I'm not quite sure what BIOS files I need to copy to which BIOS folder(please forgive me, I'm new to this)
-
Each system has it's own page in the Docs - for the Atari5200 it's here. The game should run fine, but it needs - at least - the
5200.rom
BIOS file present. The BIOS folder can be found via file shares at
\\retropie\bios
- if this is the method you used to copy the ROMs, or at/home/pi/RetroPie/BIOS
if you used SCP/WinSCP instead of file shares. -
@mitu Alright, well I supposed the BIOSs woul install themselfs(What an Idiot i am :P)
So inorder to get the games working I need to download those BIOSs and simply copy them into the BIOS folder?
-
@Muteki correct. These files are mostly copyrighted (there's a few cases where vendors have permitted distribution), so we can't install them automatically.
Some systems run without. Eg. Zx spectrum, as the bios is included due to being permitted by the copyright holder (in this case Amstrad). Or because they use a replacement copyright free bios. Eg. There is one for the Amiga for example.
