Big mess after changing tv - resultion changed
-
So I had my Retropie 4.6 running on a Raspberry pi 4 which I originally started playing around using an older Sony 1360x768 tv. everything was fine until I upgraded the tv for a 1920x1080. To start off EmulationStation has huge black bezels on every of the four edges. The cores that I had any overrides, it would simply crash with a segmentation fault after launching. No clear reason given in runcommand.log, but obviously after suspecting this would have something to do with screen size, I have changed the parameters inside each retroarch cores to match the new resolution and I got rid of the crashes. Still, regardless of the core I'm using, the usable screen size is limited to the same area I have with EmulationStation.
Should a tv change be that painful? Is there a setting to change or at leaser autodetect and update the resolution that I'm missing? Many thanks.

@xtv this might be the issue https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Overscan/

My guess this happens because you specifically set the resolution somewhere - either in
/boot/config.txt
, or in each individual RetroArch core.
EmulationStation and emulators (including RetroArch) should pick up the current resolution and run in fullscreen, without the need to set the resolution.
