Reicast won’t install
-
I’m running Retropie x86 On my pc with the latest version of Ubuntu. I’ve updated to the latest version of Retropie and I've updated the Retropie script.
When I navigate to Retropie Setup, I go to manage optional packages, select Reicast, install from binary and I'm met with this message:
"Could not install package(s): python-dev python-pip alsa-oss python-setuptools libevdev-dev".
Also there is no option to add from source. -
Ubuntu 20.04 switched to
python3
by default, so the dependencies are no longer available. Until this gets fixed in the scriptmodule, you can trylr-flycast
for Dreamcast games. -
@mitu thank you. I am using flycast but I find certain games don’t function as they should
-
@oskeeeddie What games in particular ?
-
@mitu Sega Rally 2. Sound stutters
-
@oskeeeddie this is a game that uses WinCE and is extra demanding. Sound stuttering probably means the game is not running at fullspeed. Reicast doesn't support WinCE games last I checked, so flycast is your only option at the moment. Your computer may just not have enough power.
-
Try switching the alpha sort mode in options to the faster less accurate mode
-
@mitu so finally got Reicast to install but games do not load. I have placed the bios files in the dc folder and still nothing
-
@oskeeeddie i would use flycast as detailed. Did you try the option i mentioned?
A log will be needed to help further.
-
@BuZz I did try that option but it did not work
-
One game I cannot get to work even with flycast is Hydro Thunder. I get a black screen after the Dreamcast logo.
