Kernel Panic after switching power off
-
Hello,
I'm a newcommer in the RetroPie (and raspberry) world.
I've searched this issue in the forum but did not really find an answer :
First : I installed Retropie 3.8 with win32DiskImager (write successful)
on a Raspberry pi 3 model B
with a Toshiba EXCERIA M301/EA - 64 Go - UHS Class 1 - microSDXC UHS-I S
and a basic keyboard... with no success : Kernel panic
Then : I installed Retropie beta 4
on the same config... with success. I installed the wifi, put some (legal) roms and played without any problem with it (NES)
Then I decided to switch it off.
When I reboot the PI, the same Kernel Panic message than after installing the 3.8 version.
Any help ?

Hi
How did you switch it off? By using shutdown from the menu or by pulling the power.
Cheers

Hi Paul
I switched it off by pulling the power. Bad idea ?
-
Generally yes, although I do that all the time with my system with no issues.
Have you tried another micro sd card ? Also what PSU are you using ?

@JeanDeff
HiAs Buzz mentioned above its not a good idea as it can corrupt your SD card. I have a weather station that runs continuously that has suffered several power cuts and hasn't corrupted but a colleague at work who has the same setup gets a corrupted card every time.
It would appear some SD cards are better than others and if it helps the one in my weather station is a transcend one and has been in use for four years.
Cheers
Paul
