C64 does not auto start game?
-
Hello,
I'm putting up my retropie to play my favorite game's from my youth. So far it is going great, but with de C64 emulation I encounter a problem. I really love boulder dash, so I want to get a lot of them. The original one's (I , II & III) all start automatically. C64 boots, it shows LOAD"*",8,1 and RUN:, play time!
But other T64 and T64 games just start C64. I have to mount the right file into the drive and start it manualy.
Is there any way to make these images auto start like other games do?
Regards, Noel. -
One option is to convert then to
.d64
, with something like T64-to-D64. -

I made a typo, I wanted to type other t64 an d64 games.

T64 files are simulated tape files.
When you start one you'll see "PRESS PLAY ON TAPE" and "FOUND (name of game)".
You can wait for this to disappear, or you can hit left ctrl or space on the keyboard to skip it.
It will then load. Now, T64s do not emulate tapes. They are simply a container of single files.
D64's emulate the 1541 disk drive.VICE will always autostart the first program on the T64 or D64.
If you want something other than the first program to start, then you'll need to move the file onto a new T64/D64 so VICE can autostart it.If you want to edit T64s and D64s, there are windows tools that can facilitate this: https://style64.org/dirmaster

@Neo-Rio
Thanks, this did the job.
I cleaned the D64 files and put the T64 files onto "new" D64 disks. Now they all run like expected .
I even exported some files from the d64 into PRG files. They also auto run, but they only show RUN. This takes away some of the nostalgia.
