      Hello all,

Hoping someone here may have some suggestions to try for an interesting audio issue I am experiencing. I'm using a brand new Pi 4 4GB, with a fresh 4.6 install. In testing some games, I noticed the audio is dropping in and out from Bonk's Adventure (US and Japanese versions, so two separate roms). I'm using No-Intro copies, which work fine on my Pi 3 and other systems. Adding to the weirdness is this: if I change the video mode for the rom, the audio may work. For example, if I use 640x480 @ 75hz, the audio works fine, but the screen is stretched a bit. If I use 1920x1080 @30 hz the audio works, but the frame rate is unplayable; if I use the usual 1920x1080 @60 hz, the game plays great, but audio cuts in and out. So far, this is the only game I've found with the issue. All other TG16 and CD games appear to be working fine. All other systems and games appear fine. I'll see if I can find a different version of the game, but in the meantime, anything else I could try?

@jt3writer Just in case anyone else runs into this problem, I found the solution:
Add "audio_driver = alsathread" to /opt/retropie/configs/pcengine/retroarch.cfg. Bonk audio works fine from there.

@jt3writer Fine here and I don't need to change any other settings. I usually install my emulators from source to get the latest version.
Generally, Beetle PCE Fast is buggier than the non-fast version so I'm not sure if that's the issue. I have asked the devs for a build script of the non-fast version of Beetle PCE but I don't know if we'll ever see that. I can always copy/paste the nightly libretro binary, though.

Sorry for posting in an old thread, but I'm having this issue myself. Exactly as described in the OP. Only happens with Bonk's Adventure, both the US and Japanese versions. I'll try OP's fix, but I wonder if this is something that could/should be looked into?
