How to fix controllers not working with “lr-“ emulators?
-
I’ve been trying to get an Xbox controller to work with gles2rice on the N64 and psx-rearmed on the PS1 but for some reason I can’t do anything unless I use a wireless keyboard. They work perfectly fine with things like lr-mupen64 and other emulators having that “lr-“ but it’s frustrating for the games that don’t run as well on them. If anybody can help it would be much appreciated
(Also this is all on a Pi 3b+) -
For non liberto core (lr-) n64 emulators, I usually have to manually edit config files.
Try editing this file: /opt/retropie/configs/n64/InputAutoCfg.ini
There's a little more info on how to make n64 controllers work in the docs: https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Nintendo-64/

@helloThere Is there a way to get to there through the command line because I’m cycling through the menus and can’t find it, or am I just missing it
-
Just plug in a keyboard and hit F4 to bring up the command line.
To open back up into EmulationStation, just type emulationstation into the command prompt.
-
@helloThere I tried typing that exact line into the command line and it says “Permission denied”?
-
Try sudo nano /opt/retropie/configs/n64/InputAutoCfg.ini

@helloThere Ok that worked, looking at a big empty black screen with new file and various key commands at the bottom. Hopefully its not to much to ask what to do next
-
Just try playing around with it for a while. Best way to learn.
I don't think it should be a totally empty file when first opened, though. This is what mine looked like after a bit.

@helloThere Well that’s weird. Mine is completely empty. Hopefully the image attaches correctly but the box has no code in it like yours. Maybe I missed a step?
