      Hi all,

I am currently using RetroPie on my Rasberry Pi 2 B+ for half a year now - and I love it :)! Thanks to everyone for creating such a great project!
Now I've just ordered a Raspberry Pi 3 and have a question: Can I just move the SD-card from the 2 to the 3 and everything still works? Or will there be a problem? I don't want to 'just try' because I don't want to risk that the card/OS gets corrupted. So any pointers are highly appreciated :)!

      Thanks and kind regards,

      F.

@freetz before you move the rpi2 sd card to rpi3, update the os, to asure it will get the latest firmwire to boot on rpi3,
during emulation station press "f4" to go to terminal the type "sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get -y upgrade" after finish shut it down by typing "sudo shutdown -h now" and it is ready to move to rpi3

          Hi Lodan-Zark,

thanks! I did that and then switched the SD-Card to the Pi 3, but all that came up was a rainbow image at start and then it did not progress any more, not even the slightest indication of a unix bootup. I then did it the "clean" way by backing up the bios, roms and config folders, install from scratch and then copy those folders back...

To note if you are using an older wheezy based Raspbian, support for this has been dropped, so you will want to start from a fresh image in that case. (which it sounds like you did)

Yes, that was also one of the reasons why I didn't try any harder and also did the migration to Jessie in the same process...
