I have a Pi4 system running 4.6. It's in an arcade box, so I've got dual Xinmo controllers that map the joysticks and buttons. ES or RetroPie (still not sure which) mapped those Xinmo arcade controllers as retropads #1 and #2. I also have an Xbox 360 controller which got detected and mapped as retropad #3. In ES, any of the controllers works (which is great). In the games, though, the xbox360 controller, and often my keyboard, are ignored. I thought at one point I had it working so that either Arcade-P1 OR keyboard OR Xbox360-1 would map as Player 1, without me having to do edits in each LR emulator + Daphne + N64 + any other emulators

Am I imaging this? I've been editing config files and working through the menus trying to get hotkeys to behave as I'd like but it seems I've broken something, or I'm misremembering how automagic the controller mapping really is. One step I did do was the controller reset in the RetroPie Settings, to try to get the hotkey working.

I'm a very experienced software engineer and Linux guy so I don't think I did something as basic as totally botching up a config file, but I of course could be wrong.

Any guidance on where to look would be very welcome!
