      Running a raspberry pi 4
      stock image 4.6.4
Standard power supply that came with the raspberry pi argon one raspberry pi 4 case
OS on a 64GB SD card
ROMs and scrape data on a 512 USB drive

This is probably falling under the stupidity category but I was wondering on the systems that I know that I won't be scraping again because I'm completely satisfied with the ROMs that are there do I need to keep the cache files that are on the SD card.

about the only things that are on the SD card would be the OS and this cache and I have the cache already backed up on my network drive so the worst case I could manually put it back but I suppose my question really is is there any benefit to clearing up the extra space as opposed to just leaving it there on the off chance that I will need those files for scraping in the future.

I don't need the space just makes sense that I also don't need the 20 something gb of cache files.

The lingering 20 GB won't do anything detrimental to your system. So, if you don't need the space, I would just leave them there in the case that you'll need them sometime in the (far) future.
