I am trying to run some Supergrafx roms located in the pcengine rom folder but just get a black screen. The same roms worked in a previous version of RetroPie I had on a Pi 2, I am now running RetroPie 3.7 on a Pi 3.

I have syscard.3pce in the folder with the roms in case that is required, it is also placed in the BIOS folder. I know lr-beetle-supergrafx should be the default emulator to play these roms, however, in RetroPie 3.7, when I launch the game and hold the a button to choose the default emulator for the rom, only lr-mednafen-pce-fast is listed as an emulator option.

Would I have to download the emulator from the RetroPie Setup if it is not included by default? Thanks in advance.

Yes you have to install the other emulator from the setup scrip as its not provided by default
