Hi all, I’m planning on building a two player cabinet for my nephews.

Any suggestion for the wood? I’m looking for something light that can be moved around and placed on a table, but sturdy enough too.

I’ve already built a retropie joystick, but first time working with incorporated video. Any thing I should consider carefully? Is a normal monitor good enogh?

      Thanks

You could go the route of bartop kit: https://www.harumancustoms.com

I used birch plywood for a two player bartop cabinet. It’s lighter and more durable than MDF but more expensive. The cabinet is still heavy though, so I’m glad I chose a lighter material.

I used an lcd screen but regret not going with a crt for a more authentic retro feel. The crt would have made it super heavy though.

I used these instructions as a reference but made the cabinet with my own measures for a more personalized finish.

[edit. Added link to the instructions as intended]

and a lot larger ... mostly depth wise
