Some systems in ES theme don't trigger the Video layout correctly (RP 4.6)
-
First time poster. I apologize if this has already been covered. I was not able to find what I was looking for. My main issue is that when navigating between systems in my ES Theme (I'm modifying the Artbook theme), some of them use the Video layout (which I've specified in the RP settings), and some don't - even if they have a video snap and game image defined. The video, image, description, etc. all appear, but they don't use the correct theme formatting, which I believe is because it's not using the Video layout that I've setup in theme. Again, some of the systems work perfectly. Wondering what I should be looking for to troubleshoot. From what I can tell, nothing is different.
An example would be I have 2 PlayStation games setup with images/video, and the PlayStation screen works perfectly - using the Video layout. Also, the All Games screen works as it should. Then, I have 1 Genesis game setup with images/video, and the Genesis screen does not use the Video layout, so nothing is where it's supposed to be. This is the case with most of the other systems. I only have a handful of systems and games. I can't figure out what's different that's causing the discrepancy. Any suggestions would be helpful.
I scraped the game data using the built-in scrapers, and then added the video snaps and replaced the box art manually. The box art is all the same size.
I've attached two examples (SNES - incorrect, All Games - correct).

Attachment of config files: not sure what I need to include here -
Did you try to explicitly set the Gamelist View Style to Video in EmulationStation's UI Settings menu ?
-
@mitu Yep, I have it set to Gamelist View Style: Video. "All Games" and "Playstation" are the only two that seem to stick to it.
-
@jag64551 Change the theme, if other themes the video gamestyle correct, then the problem is with the theme.
-
@mitu Yes, if I set it back to the standard Artbook theme, it works as intended. I was kind of assuming it was a problem with the theme and was wondering if there was anything specifically to look for. Is there a better place to ask about theme development, or is this the right place for that? Thanks
-
@jag64551 I don't have any experience with theme design or the format, maybe others can chime in.
Did you check the documentation available for theme creation ?
-
@mitu Yes, I've checked those out. I will keep digging in the meantime. Hopeful someone has a magic bullet that is the key to my issue :-D Not sure what the differences would be between systems that would cause it to break. Thanks

I was not able to figure this out. For my purposes, I wanted to restrict access to the other lists anyway as this machine is for a workplace arcade setup so I wanted a very straightforward setup, so I updated the ES config to not allow the B button to work. It loads All Games by default, and I turned off the ability to go from system to system, so for now it's working for me. Thanks for the input that was received.
