You don't have room for a cabinet, but you do have room for all this other...stuff. XD

@cnoto with a Pi its not easy, but you could use dosbox and run some tables, also fromo other systems:

If you want to go pro, use a laptop or a pc and you will have power enough to run great tables with visual or future pinball

About ten years ago I saw an article about somebody that had modified a coffee table with drawers to house their gaming console. The used one of the drawers to hide the controllers etc and even had modified monitor arms to store the screen below the top when it was not in use. I always thought that was a clever idea.

Personally, I like find interesting things to hide Raspberry Pis in. I converted an R2D2 into my Pi3 build. I've got another of the same R2D2 to build another one at some point. I've also got a 10L beer cask that I've planned to convert into a Retropie device that would be fun to bring over to friends' houses when we're all getting together. That project is currently shelved as the expense really isn't an option for me right now. I've also always wanted to do a "briefcase" build with built in screen etc.

There's always the fun of modifying an old computer (I'd like to see an old Apple II or Macintosh upgraded for retro gaming). I know somebody was working on a rather elaborate gamecube build with the Compute Module 3.

Instead of another build some ideas for tweaks I've had that would take some time include:
Launch screens / overlays with game-specific controls displayed
Tweak the gamelist.xml files for genre, players, good descriptions, etc (I already do this for games in series so they can show up together)

                "The retropie is your oyster"

@cnoto HaeHmpf.... Whats about actually playing? I know (as most of us?), sometimes there is more satisfaction to be found in tinkering/meddling/preparing/setting it up... but well, for once what about setting yourself some personal goals on games run on your previous setups?

If not, and as you haven't restricted your question to retropie... whats about a smart mirror in your bathroom that is scanning your hands (be it toothbrushing/shaving/whatsoever) and playing some kind of breakout via that... ok, wait... a mirror in some unneeded space and it scanns for "tongue" & "face" and you can play arkanoid just by standing in front of it and move the bar with your tongue...

I'll guess that is not the answer you asked for, but be assured, even if it may sound like I am joking about your question (1), my indent is to hind you towards projects beyond simply retro-gaming and to venture into the domain of "makers" and therefore (maybe) to go beyond the projects you've done so far...

[1]: The cases I've mentioned may have been somewhat "exaggerated"...
