New to retropie (and rasberrypi) have questions on mame
-
Hello,
Hopefully this is the correct area. I am slowly building a home arcade in my basement. I've restored some antique pinball machines and some vintage pachinko machines and am getting ready to build an arcade cabinet and have been doing research and it looks fairly straight forward. My question is will my mame32 roms work in retropie? I already have them on hand but as they are older not sure if that is an issue. Any help, guidance is appreciated very much.
Thanks,
Mike -
@mrtoad1968 your mame roms need to match the romset compatible with the mame emulator you are using. https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/Managing-ROMs

Thanks Herb for the reply. This is all new to me. Does clrmamepro convert my mame32 roms or I need to find a new set completely? If I need new, I know I cannot ask here where to get them but is there a place where I can ask that question? Thanks for the help.

A good place to ask is Google.
I would suggest finding a new set (although clrmamepro can rebuild if it has relevant sources), but first decide on the emulator you will be running. You can find the options shown at the link Herb has posted above. I would recommend 0.078 for Mame2003, but it depends on personal preference etc..

Thanks Floob I will read the info in the link further and see where it leads. This is all new to me so just learning. The machines I have worked on to date are 99% mechanical so this is new territory for me.
