Joypad doesn't work with lr-pcsx-rearmed after update
-
Hi all,
I have a Raspberry Pi 4b - 4GB
5V/5A power supply, not official
RetroPie 4.7.1 updated on December 16th, 2020, from the RetroPie setup script (with "updating underlaying OS too" or something that sounds like this)
Linux kernel is 5.4.79-v7l+.
My Joypad is a cheap PS3 clone, USB connected. Its name is "MY-POWER CO.,LTD. USB Joystick"
There is no error message on screen.Since the last update, my joypad doesn't work anymore with Playstation games. It seems that the buttons and the digital/analog pads are no more mapped to the emulated Playstation. I click Start, X, Y, A, B... nothing happens in the game. Before the update it used to work.
By the way, my joypad still perfectly works with all other emulators, with EmulationStation. And it is even recognized when I launch a PSX game, since "MY-POWER CO.,LTD. USB Joystick connected in port 1" appears at the bottom of the screen. And it reappeared during the game, if I disconnect/reconnect the joypad (for testing purpose). And Select+X or Select+Start are working too during the game. I can even navigate in the Retroarch menu. But nothing in the game itself.
I checked the file /opt/retropie/configs/psx/retroarch.cfg. All input_player... entries are = "nul".
Many thanks for your help.

@clyde Many thanks!
I pushed Select+X, went to "options", enables "show other input settings", left RetroArch, pushed Select+X again, went back to options, and deactivated "multitap 1" and "multitap 2" and... it works!
In the end, this December update has created a lot of problems: these multitaps selected now by default, a new disappearance of the sound due to the adoption by Raspberry OS of Pulse Audio (to be fixed with the command "systemctl --user mask pulseaudio.socket")... it starts to make a lot of manual interventions in just a few days.
Let's hope that a new 4.8 release of RetroPie will arrive soon to fix all these issues and all the ones we haven't discovered yet.

Actually, it's not the default anymore since 5th of November, see here and here. But if you saved a core override before that change (like I did), this setting may have been preserved from an older version.
Glad that your problem is fixed, cheers.

Hey! Thanks to you guys and the other linked posts, I found and fixed the same issue. I had some old overrides saved and sure enough, my Multitaps were "auto". Changed to "disabled" and all is well again in PSX land!
