I have two Bluetooth controllers and two sets of joystick/buttons configured on Retropie. For some reason the joystick and buttons work on the Home Screen/game selection screens but not in games. The snes controllers work in the selection screens and in games. Is there a way to set up retropie so that whatever “controller” selects the game is the one to be used so it doesn’t default to the snes controllers? I ran into this problem when setting up my parents mod. Except it’s the opposite. Buttons and joysticks work in game but controllers do not. Any way to fix this? I’d like to. Be able to use the snes controllers on snes games obviously but possibly other games as well depending on what they are. I basically want the option to choose between joystick/buttons and controller

You have 2 methods to select which controllers are P1/P2:

        • use the Configuration Editor to select the joypad index per-emulator, so that controllers 3/4 become P 1/2 when starting a certain game.
        • use @meleu's joystick selection script from https://github.com/meleu/RetroPie-joystick-selection.

@mitu thank you! So once I do this, it will allow me to choose if I use the joystick/controller for a game? Do I have to input the user binds for each input?
