      Hey everyone,

So recently I switched cards, from a smaller 32 gb SanDisk to a larger 128gb one.

I formatted the new sd card (using SDFormatter) then installed the latest img of the Retropie installer (3.8.1) using win32diskimager and then turned on the pi3.

OKs on everything but the Login Service, which I've seen before. Then it reboots.

Finally I get to the Errors. There are about 7 of them. They all start with

ERROR - Tried to write to log file before it was open! The following won't be logged:
      levl2: EmulationStation - v2.0.1a
ERROR - Tried to write to log file before it was open! The following won't be logged:

ERROR - Tried to write to log file before it was open! The following won't be logged: levl2: Loading system config file /etc/emulationstation/es_systems.cfg
ERROR - Tried to write to log file before it was open! The following won't be logged: levl1: System "amstradcpc" has no games! Ignoring it....

      Aborted
df: Warning: cannot read table of mounted file systems: No such file or directory

      What did I do wrong?

Alright, so as an update I've created an image of the working 32gb version and put that image on the 128gb card.

Card takes a bit to boot up and worked fine the first time, until I plugged in my keyboard, then it froze. Upon restarting the pi I am now stuck on loading screen with a wall of errors.

Going to wipe and start over I suppose. Anyone have an idea what might be the issue?

if the filesystem is mounted read only that may happen if it was corrupted.

from the retropie website? how would i know if it was mounted read only?

I'm currently reinstalling a new image i just downloaded just now to see if anything has changed as the last time i downloaded was two weeks ago.

the error above says that - maybe your sd card is faulty/incompatible (try another sdcard) - you would likely get errors when booting also.

I purchased the Sandisk card that was listed on this wiki page: http://elinux.org/RPi_SD_cards#Which_SD_card.3F

                microSDXC 128 10 Write: 10.6 MB/s, Read: 18.6 MB/s, man:0x000003 oem:0x5344 name:SL128 hwrev:0x8 fwrev:0x0

So in a weird twist upon installing the image using a version of the img I downloaded today it will boot up to the configure controller section. Now it freezes as I go through the controller configuration.

I suppose if it is the sd card, does anyone have a 128gb card that they recommend?

Alright going old school and starting from scratch with the 128gb card. I used GUI format and the new image and everything was greenlit! But then it froze at the dhcpcd starting point. Anyone have any ideas? I may try to install raspbian first, then retropie.

@nissan288 try another card.? Maybe your card is faulty/counterfeit or something.
