Your user 'root' is not a member of the system group 'imput' & video gropup
I always get this "error" and I log in as "root", I try to see the input and video group but I don't see it.
In armbian -
Not sure what logs that message, we don't officially support Armbian as a platform - on which type of system are you trying to install RetroPie ?
-
@mitu !
the "notices" come out with the rearfoot installation.
The installation is done with the "root" itself and "sudo" commands, which is what surprises me that the root user no longer has privileges.
I will try as "view, create or add users" to those groups if they exist ...
He also commented that he is trying to install in Armbian 20.11.6_Orangepipc_focal_current_5.10.4

We don't support OrangePi as a platform. I don't know what 'rearfoot' is - is this a RetroPie fork ?
I think there's a RetroPie fork (RetrOrangePi ?) which might offer some support on this platform, but it's not supported by the RetroPie project. -

This is the retropie forum, right? the next tutorial is from retropie right? https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Debian/
and I am installing in an armbian version and if I don't know, this is the "retropie" "support" forum, right?
What does the hardware have to do with opi, rasp etc ...? if you are installing on your version of debian / ubunto ...
Of course, if you know enough about "linux" you would have no problem installing or supporting the installation of retropie ... But you have to know.
And I bet it's a nonsense of privileges -

That's referring to installation on a PC.

It actually does matter, since ARM SBC are different platform than a PC, the fact that a Debian like distro works on it doesn't necessarily mean there's a good software and hardware support for it to run RetroPie. As said, we don't support the OrangePi SBCs, but feel free to try and experiment.

@mitu Retropie works perfectly with ubuntu and others, in fact there are distros like retrorangepi that works with retropie.
Make it work, if you can, but it's like everything ... you have to know a lot.The problem does not install the video, well, you have to install it.
I have already tried modes and it still does not work but I hope to find it xDDD, although good, you have to wait a long time (hours) until retropie is installed and test.
Let's have patience and luck lol -
FYI - I just came across this same error message when using RetroPie Setup on my Raspberry Pi 4. It turns out, I was running it via sudo, while already in a sudo shell. To reproduce, do the following:
sudo -s cd /home/pi/RetroPie-Setup sudo ./retropie_setup.sh
To fix, either just exit out of the sudo shell, or don't use sudo to run RetroPie while already in a sudo shell.
Hope this helps.
