Hi. I'm new to retropie and raspberry pi sbc so my apologies if this has been gone over already.
I followed retropie website to install on Pi 4, I put some roms on there, but not many, I used retropie to scrape text and image on games. Then I saw and followed ETA tutorial on putting game videos using skyscraper.
Since that, now every time I go to a game, eg snes, the video plays but then suddenly the whole retropie freezes. I have to unplug it to switch it off, which I know is not ideal.
If is quickly navigate through games and start one before preview video starts them game plays everything is fine until I change game and allow video to play, then freezes again.
I have read loads and in process of using handbrake to reduce video file size on my Windows 10 laptop.
I don't know about coding etc, I'm only following tutorial I find and there does not seem to be a definite solution to this problem.
Will just resizing the video files work or am i waiting my time and it's a different solution.
Any help please, thanks in advance.

Not sure if resizing the video will help, if there's an error playing the video that freezes EmulationStation, it might be because of a video codec error.
Are you using the default video player in EmulationStation or did you enabled the HW accelerated video player (omxplayer) in the settings ?

@mitu. Hi, at first the omxplayer was on, as the tutorial suggested and then after reading a long winded forum about this issue, one of the things was to turn it off. So I did but still had stay issue.
I thought it could have been a bad skyscraper install, so I also uninstalled that but same issue.
So I left it a while to register on here and it wrack my brain around it.
Then, even though I did a script update and I knew I had the latest retropie installed cos I'd only just done it from the site a couple of days ago. I decided to do it again, the script took no time at all, the main update this time took 2 hours. I rebooted and for some reason it all works fine now, no freezing. So I put the omxplayer back on and it's still fine. Haven't yet re installed skyscraper but I don't know if it now works because of that or a second update after the preview videos where on.
          Either way it works now.
          Thanks for commenting anyway.
