was wondering if all the emulators are pre-installed or do I have to add them

@drmyth It depends which image you are currently using. For 3.8.1 :
https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/First-Installation

But for V4 Beta, I believe you install the ones that you want:
https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Updating-RetroPie

Either way, you'll want the latest update script before you start tweaking.
