@jay81uk anything super nes/ genesis and older run fine on it. Even though some people think altering the /etc/emulationstation/es_systems.cfg is not the best thing but i delete the systems i dont want from there and the only way you can put systems in the order you want is by rearranging them in this file. Systems without roms in their roms folder wont show up in emulationstation though. However on first boot you have some systems that will show up so you can either delete the files in their rom folders or edit the es_systems.cfg as i described.

Thank you! I'll need to delete the roms on the card then once retropi is installed, is that right? Can I also then just copy all my roms to the relevant system folders on the card, or do I have to do it via the guides I've seen involving transferring over WiFi or usb stick?

@jay81uk If you delete roms, you will no longer have games.

@rbaker No I mean say if I want to get rid of the Sega consoles from the menu, would I edit the sd card in my pc to remove all the Sega roms so the emulator no longer appears?

@jay81uk Yes, personally, I create a folder called "unwanted" and drag the ROMS folder into it. Then when the emulator is wanted, you can just drag the folder out. Important if using things like SCUMM because there are some scripts in the folders needed to start the emulator. They could be easily deleted and then when you actually want to use it, you will be baffled at the fact that it doesn't work. In this case, a reinstall from source would solve the problem.

@rbaker Thanks. So does the actual emulator system stay on the sd card, but it's invisible if no roms are installed?
How much space does the initial retropi install use?

@jay81uk Yes that's correct but V4 is imminent and it's a slimmed down version where you choose which emulators you want. You will need to install them yourself. At the moment the initial install takes several GB and comes with all the main and core packages pre-installed according to the wiki. Systems appear only when roms are present.

@rbaker Am I best to download V3 now then before V4 happens? I want it as less complicated as possible!

@jay81uk The current version is very simple to use. I would use it right now then you don't have to configure it yourself. Download the image, burn it and then drop in the relevant romset and you are ready to go.
