I’m just curious if anyone has tried retropie on a banana pi. I’ve heard banana pi can run raspberry pi is so why not retropie?

You can't beat the classics(unless you copy them).

I don't understand this question. how can it 'run' raspberry pi (a family of SBCs)? you mean run raspbian (the OS)? i am not convinced about that: https://raspberrypi.stackexchange.com/questions/108881/rasbian-on-a-banana-pi

in any case, retropie supports a limited amount of ARM boards - to support new ones requires testing and development, to make sure software is built correctly, using the right graphics libraries, default emulators, and so forth.

i believe you can run forks of retropie on banana pi boards, but you'd have to ask on a banana pi forum for help with that, as we only support official retropie here. a quick google shows a few solutions.
