      Hello,
I tried to adapt for debian buster the guide for ubuntu but now, the RetroPie folder is not at the right place (it should be in my home folder) : it is in the folder /root.

      I did this :

      su
      apt update
      apt upgrade
apt install git dialog unzip xmlstarlet
      exit
      git clone --depth=1 https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup.git
      cd RetroPie-Setup
      su
      ./retropie_setup.sh

Pi Model or other hardware : PC
RetroPie setup Version Used : 4.7.9
Built From : on top of Debian 10 buster
      Guide used : https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Debian/

@antoine8168 Don't run the installer with the root user, use your regular user and sudo for installation.

Thank you, I've uninstalled retropie with su, added my account in the sudo group and reinstalled retropie with sudo. It is working now, the problem is solved except for the gamepad : 2 gamepads detected for only 1 plugged.

Did you install the xboxdrv by any chance ? Uninstall it and try again.

@mitu xboxdrv is not installed. I've created a new topic for this issue.
