Swapping HDMI ports
-
Hi there. I use a rather bulky HDMI to microHDMI adapter plug, which interferes with the USB-C power plug. Is there a way to swap default video output to the other HDMI Port? Thank you!
-
There's no explicit configuration for which HDMI port (on the Pi4) is used. Just power down the Pi, plug-in the adapter to the other port and then power it up again.
-
@mitu Thank you. I tested that again. While the boot screen pops up as expected, the screen turns black when normally the splash screen starts playing.
-
Do you have a video set as splash screen ?
What's the output ofsystemctl status asplashscreen
? -
Yes, I have a video set as splash screen. This is the output:

@mitu said in Swapping HDMI ports:
systemctl status asplashscreen
Looks fine - it reported that it played the video fine.
Can you add more details about your setup ? I also use the 2nd HDMI port and I don't have a problem showing a video - I usually have a splashscreen image shown, but switching to a video plays it plays ok. -
@mitu Thank you for your ongoing support to the community, much appreciated. I just learned that you do not support 3rd party images, which I fully understand. And honestly I have not created this setup on my own, as my knowledge is very limited. However, when I try a fresh install, everything works as you described.
