      I read this:
      https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/RetroArch-Configuration

And I watched some setup videos but I'm still struggling on how to configure my PS3 remote so that the left thumb joystiq replaces the analog directional buttons in all "arcade" roms. Can someone point me in the right direction?

      Pi Model: 3b
      RetroPie Version Used: 3.8.1
      Built From: SD Image
      Controller used: PS3 bluetooth
      Emulator: mame2003

If there's any sort of file I can post to help let me know. I configure the PS3 controller when first installed and it works perfectly in all console emulators. It's the MAME controls I'm trying to customize (specifically getting my left thumb joystick to work for Indiana Jones) but theoretically id want that to work for all MAME games.

I figured this out. To those with same question, the settings are in the configuration editor under the retropie options menu. Just pick the emulator you want to set that joystiq to.
