      On my Retropie cabinet using Karate Champ in MAME 2003, I have to go into the Retroarch Options, and select DUAL JOYSTICK MODE (!NETPLAY) to ON in order to use both joysticks to play the game. Problem is I have to do that every time. I want to save this for this game only, and not affect everything.

      Under Options, if I hit Save Game-options file (kchampvs), it saves the "core" file. This changes the second joystick for other MAME 2003 games. So it's not just changing Karate Champ. It's changing the core of MAME 2003. This is the only save option I see under Options.

      I've read the Core Input Remapping page in the guide. Unfortunately this doesn't help because I'm not going into the controls or input sections where the Save Core Remap or Save Game Remap file is located. I'm doing this under Options which has no other save option.

      I appreciate any clarity. Thank you.

        @drdave79 saving the game option file should work.

        Retroarch main menu-> Quick menu-> options-> create game options file

        You may have to start a different rom after and change the default setting back though.

        So start rom, change setting, save game option file, close Retroarch. Next, play regular game, change setting back, then just exit Retroarch.

        Or....

        You can also save the game option file then just manually edit the cfgs over network. The default core options are saved to Configs-> all-> retroarch-core-options.cfg

        Then just edit the opt file you created Configs-> all-> retroarch-> config -> mame2003 directory-> game.opt
