Is there anything wrong with flashing retropie to an ssd in usb enclosure using pi imager in Windows 10 then inserting the SSD into argon one m.2 case and booting retropie that way without sdcard.

Alternatively I can Install raspbian to sdcard and then install pi imager via command line on sdcard and have my ssd already inserted in case and choose ssd drive under pi imager to install retropie.

      Will either method be fine?

I ended up installing the SSD into case and putting raspberry os onto sdcard.

I booted sdcard in pi and installed pi imager.

I formatted ssd with pi imager and Installed latest retropie then shutdown and removed sdcard and then powered on and the SSD booted fine with retropie.

So is the eeprom update not as important for internal ssd?

      Thanks
      Sim
