Use the File Manager entry in the RetroPie system or log in via SSH and use
less /dev/shm/runcommand.log
to look at the file. For the former method, you'll need a keyboard attached to the Pi, the latter needs another PC on the same network. -
@mitu said in No Games will load:
less /dev/shm/runcommand.log
there is no folder inside of SHM it is empty
/dev/shm/ nothing in here
-
@ken-tipton The log file doesn't exist before running a game. Run a game to reproduce your error, then look the file up.
-
@mitu ok there are now 3 files in there

This looks like a bad ROM. If it worked before, then try re-copying the ROM file and see if it starts working again.
-
@mitu it was working fine. If I go to Retrorarch and look at past games played and launch from there is loads. but any game I try and run from main menu will not load

As I said, try copying again the ROM archive file and see if it works. You can get more info by enabling verbose logging from the Runcommand launch menu.

@mitu thank you will try again in the morning. Your help is greatly appriciated

Corrupted SD card maybe ?
-
I have banged my head on this one. If I go to retroarch and go to history and select a game I previously played from there. (in this case Astroids) it loads fine with all previous high scores intact. if I go from game menu I get nothing
-
@ken-tipton Are you sure you're loading the same
.zip
file ? The previous log shows the file is empty:[libretro ERROR] [MAME 2003] Error in zipfile asteroid.zip: Empty file
-
@mitu yes I am. I looked in the folder and as you said it was empty. I don't know why it was empty. I looked at the one on my desktop and it had 4 txt files in it. every time I would drag it to the Raspberry Pi and look in the folder it would be empty. I then deleted the folder completely from both the PI and my computer and downloaded a new rom and loaded that to the PI. The files stayed in the folder that time but still failed to load.
-
@ken-tipton Power fluctuation? Like a loss of electricity during a storm or a brown-out? Maybe something got corrupted (or hardware suddenly failed) without you knowing.
-
@iandaemon just checked and all other emulators work as they should it is only my arcade folder utilizing MAME games.
-
Here is another game. All of them do the same thing.

so I removed the Arcade folder completely and replaced it with a know good folder and same thing. I think it may be the emulators. Where is the root directory for the emulators. The Arcade folder I added has emulators in it but these are not the ones that show up on the game so I assume the parent files are stored somewhere other then the Arcade folder.
Thank you
Ken -
@ken-tipton Why did you put emulators in the ROM folder? How do you expect anyone to be able to help you when you "customize" the files and file locations?
