I have searched high and low and can't find a solution for my problem. I think I may be the only person trying to achieve what I am....

I have retropie set up with nes, snes, master system, megadrive and mame games. The default mame emulator is mame4all but in some games I found it runs/looks better using lr-mame4all so I changed some of them to use that emulator. My set up is - I have an arcade table with joystick and buttons for 2 players, but also 2 snes usb controllers for using for the console games. I figured the easier way to have it configured was to have the 2 snes controllers in usb ports 0 and 1 so that they appear as players 1 and 2. This works fine for the consoles which is great. I I can change the control mappings for the mame4all games by using a keyboard and pressing tab to enter the rgui. That gets the joyusticks and buttons working how I want them to in all mame4all games. The problem is in the games using lr-imame4all - I have added some lines in the retroarch.cfg file to swap players 1 and 2 with 3 and 4 so which gets them working correct in the game, however, I can't exit a game by using the hotkey combination you would usually (select+start). I have a start button for each player and a select/coin button, I just can't figure out how to exit with a combination of these.

@hankchad You aren't alone. I am trying to figure out that same thing. I went to Retroarch and found where it mentioned the esc key. I bound a arcade button to that same command which is Exit Retroarch. Of course, that didn't work. It will close Retroarch but will not exit from a game.
