I am trying to launch UAE4ALL or UAE4ARM from emulation station using a PI3. I updated retropie to the latest version as of the 3/8/16 so it is completely up to date. When I select +Start UAE4ALL it goes to launch goes black and then immediately returns to the emulation station screen. When I look at the tmp/runcommand.log file it says the following:-

      /opt/retropie/supplementary/runcommand/runcommand.sh: line 806: /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/amiga/+Start UAE4All.sh: Permission denied

I read about someone else having the exact same problem and all they did was reinstall the UAE4ALL emulator. I have tried this several times without any joy.

I am running all my ROMS from a USB HDD as per this guide:-

      https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Running-ROMs-from-a-USB-drive

I'm not sure if this could have caused permission problems.

      Any help much appreciated,

      Cheers

The problem is due to the filesystems the scripts are on. I have updated runcommand to now launch them directly with bash, which should work around problems like this (you will need to update retropie-setup, and then update installed packages if coming from 3.x)

@BuZz Hi Buzz. Thanks for the reply. I updated the setup scripts and then updated the installed packages and it is now working. Thanks very much for that. I noticed that when the update was happening I saw hundreds of chown: Changing ownership of "path" :Operation not permitted erros, where "path" is the path it is trying to change ownership of. Everything seems to work fine so is this something I should worry about.

I can send the setup log if needed.

            Cheers mate

Because you have your data on a fat32 filesystem that doesn't support many unix permission/features. You would have to use a linux filesystem to avoid that.

@edmaul69 Hey mate. I tried this with no luck as it didn't have permission to change mode on the file and the file was already marked as executable (x). Thanks for the suggestion though - @BuZz suggestion did the trick for me.

                Thanks again

Hi guys , I've just experienced the same problem with uae and to some extent with reicast not showing system manager in es. So just to be clear I need to update setup script, then installed packages and then install emulator , correct? I'm on 4.0 rc1 btw.
